5 Days Gorilla & Chimpanzee Safari

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe & Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you’ll be warmly received by your safari guide. Begin your journey west toward Kibale Forest National Park, known as the “Primate Capital of the World.” The drive takes you through lush tea plantations, crater lakes, and charming villages. Arrive in the afternoon and settle into your lodge surrounded by the soothing sounds of the forest.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary

After an early breakfast, head into Kibale Forest for a thrilling chimpanzee tracking experience. Follow experienced rangers through dense vegetation as they lead you to a community of chimpanzees — listening to their pant-hoots echo through the forest canopy is unforgettable. Spend an hour observing their social behavior, grooming habits, and playful antics.

In the afternoon, visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-led conservation area teeming with birdlife and other primates such as red colobus and vervet monkeys. This experience offers a perfect blend of wildlife and community interaction.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, depart Kibale and drive south toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that shelters half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. The journey takes you through the scenic Albertine Rift Valley and the terraced highlands of southwestern Uganda. Arrive in the late afternoon and unwind at your forest lodge nestled in the foothills of Bwindi.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi Forest

Today marks the highlight of your safari — a face-to-face encounter with mountain gorillas. After breakfast, gather at the park headquarters for a pre-trek briefing, then venture into the dense forest with your ranger guide in search of your assigned gorilla family. The trek may take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours depending on their movement, but once found, the reward is breathtaking.

Spend an hour in their presence — watching the silverback’s dominance, the gentle mothers, and playful juveniles — a moment that will stay with you for life. Afterward, return to your lodge and spend the evening at leisure or visit a nearby Batwa community for a cultural experience.

Day 5: Return to Entebbe or Kampala

Depending on your flight schedule, you will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight — marking the end of your unforgettable gorilla and chimpanzee adventure.
