Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Arrive at Kigali International Airport, where your guide will warmly welcome you. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a brief Kigali city tour, visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Kimironko Market, or Inema Arts Centre to get a feel for the capital’s culture and creativity.
Afterward, embark on a scenic drive north to Volcanoes National Park, located in Musanze District. The 2.5-hour journey winds through Rwanda’s rolling hills and patchwork farmlands, offering beautiful views of the Virunga volcanoes along the way.

Day 2: First Gorilla Trekking Experience
After an early breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a pre-trek briefing. You’ll be assigned to one of the habituated gorilla families and guided into the lush bamboo forests of the Virunga Mountains.
The trek may take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements. Once found, you’ll spend a magical hour observing them—watching mothers care for their babies, juveniles play, and silverbacks display their gentle dominance.
After the trek, return to your lodge for a hot lunch and rest. In the evening, visit the nearby Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to experience traditional Rwandan music, dance, and storytelling, gaining a deeper appreciation of Rwanda’s heritage.

Day 3: Second Gorilla Trekking Experience – A Deeper Connection

Each encounter is unique—sometimes you’ll find the gorillas peacefully feeding, other times interacting playfully or displaying remarkable human-like emotions.
Spending time with two different gorilla families provides an even richer understanding of their behavior and the incredible conservation efforts protecting them.
After your trek, enjoy a relaxed afternoon at your lodge or take a scenic drive around the Musanze region to admire the lush volcanic landscapes.
